Cleaning, Defroster,
and Anti-Flare Design

Clear View

Just as human drivers need a clear view of the road, Tensor’s sensors must stay clean and unobstructed to ensure safety. All of Tensor's autonomous driving cameras and lidars are equipped with specialized all-weather cleaning systems — including mini wipers, retractable nozzles, and defrosters.

World’s First Ultra-High-Pressure
for Sensor Cleaning

Tensor’s advanced cleaning system combines intelligent engineering with innovative design, featuring curvature-adaptive retractable and fixed nozzles tailored to sensors of various shapes, targeted-zone smart solenoid valves for isolated cleaning, and both continuous and pulsed spray modes to handle different types of debris. Taking it even further, Tensor introduces the world’s first ultra-high-pressure pumps for sensor cleaning—achieving the same level of cleanliness in half the time while using 30% less washer fluid. Developed in partnership with ARaymond and Schaeffler, these innovations keep the lenses clean, clear, and unobstructed even in adverse weather conditions, ensuring that sensors are blocked for less time and that even stubborn debris can be removed.

Cover Glass
Defroster

To prevent fogging in foggy, snowy, or icy environments, Tensor uses intelligent temperature and humidity sensors to predict dew points, automatically activating electric cover glass heating when necessary.

Lens Defroster

For the fisheye and under-chassis cameras that do not have a cover glass, they are enabled with lens heating capabilities that resolves such issues.

Anti-Flare Optics Module

Tensor’s sensors incorporate an advanced anti-flare design, including black matte finishes, precision baffle threads, and specialized cover glass coatings to eliminate unwanted stray light interference. This meticulous approach guarantees clear and reliable images, which is crucial for autonomous safety.

Tensor’s sensor cover glass is engineered to endure real-world road impacts—from flying gravel and sandblasting to unexpected debris. As shown in this drop test, where a metal ball strikes the glass without causing any damage, it demonstrates exceptional durability. This robust protection helps ensure safe, reliable autonomous driving mile after mile.
