Locations

  • San Jose, California, US (Salary Range: $75k—$300k USD)

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze environmental regulations, standards, and customer-specific requirements related to electric vehicles (EVs), and develop and implement internal compliance protocols and material standards to align with these requirements.
  • Design, manage, and maintain the company’s environmental compliance management system, ensuring that all materials, components, and vehicles adhere to federal and state regulations, including policies for battery material recycling, rare earth element sourcing, emissions credits compliance, and so on.
  • Provide expert recommendations and approvals on material selection for vehicles and parts, focusing on sustainable, recyclable, and environmentally friendly materials. Oversee testing, verification, and audits of environmental attributes, including battery systems and electric powertrain materials.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance efforts, including certification records, regulatory submissions, and sustainability performance metrics, ensuring they are readily accessible for customer inquiries and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure that the company’s materials, processes, and products meet all environmental compliance standards, including hazardous substance regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH) and third-party certifications, while supporting compliance with battery disposal and recycling mandates.
  • Lead internal training programs and awareness initiatives to educate teams on EV-specific environmental protection standards and certifications, effectively communicating key requirements to cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Over 8 years of experience in vehicle-related environmental protection work (including ELV, hazardous substances, emissions, etc.).
  • Ability to independently complete or organize tasks such as product material selection, material testing, material certification, and declarations in accordance with requirements.
  • Familiarity with government environmental protection management processes, along with access to third-party testing resources and the ability to address and resolve related issues.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Prior work experience with a major automaker.
