If you were near the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on April 15th, you couldn't miss it: the Tensor Robocar was on display, serving as a powerful reminder of how quickly the autonomous landscape is shifting. While much of the industry remains focused on ride-hailing fleets, Tensor used this premier event to emphasize a different vision: personal ownership—putting Level 4 autonomy directly into the hands of the individual.
Inside the summit, Tensor’s Dr. Jewel Li joined a distinguished panel to discuss the shift from engineering milestones to real-world adoption. While the industry has historically focused on the technical "how" of self-driving, Jewel highlighted the human "why."
Drawing on a decade of industry-wide learnings, Jewel addressed the inherent bottlenecks of scaling: specifically, the immense challenges of retrofitting existing vehicle platforms with autonomous tech. She articulated Tensor’s core conviction that "bolting on" sensors to traditional cars is a dead end for mass adoption. Instead, Tensor believes the only viable path forward is purpose-built, ground-up Level 4 architecture.
Ride AI 2026 proved that the "Time to Market" for autonomous vehicles is now. Tensor is leading this shift by ensuring that the most advanced AI on the road isn't just a service you hire, but a machine you own.
